The effect of stocking density on the growth of apple snails native Pomacea bridgesii and exotic Pomacea lineata (Mollusca, Gastropoda) Anais da ABC (AABC)
JUNIOR,ESMAR SOUZA; BARROS,JOSE CARLOS N. DE; PARESQUE,KARLA; FREITAS,RODRIGO R. DE.
The demand for alternative food sources is currently in evidence in the world and, therefore, the culture of animal species considered not conventional makes this theme relevant and appropriate. In the present study, the species Pomacea lineata and Pomacea bridgesii, each with three stowage densities (0.5 [T1], 1 [T2], and 1.5 [T3] animal/L), were tested. They were analyzed regarding growth rate, weight gain, final biomass, feed conversion and percentage of survival. There was not any statistically significant difference between the different densities for both species. The final average weight in the three waterworks did not differ significantly in P. bridgesii. In P. lineata, T1 (22.3 ± 1.80g) was significantly higher than T2 and T3. On the other hand,...

The new insights into the oyster antimicrobial defense: Cellular, molecular and genetic view ArchiMer
Bachere, Evelyne; Rosa, Rafael Diego; Schmitt, Paulina; Poirier, Aurore; Merou, Nicolas; Charriere, Guillaume; Destoumieux-garzon, Delphine.
Oysters are sessile filter feeders that live in close association with abundant and diverse communities of microorganisms that form the oyster microbiota. In such an association, cellular and molecular mechanisms have evolved to maintain oyster homeostasis upon stressful conditions including infection and changing environments. We give here cellular and molecular insights into the Crassostrea gigas antimicrobial defense system with focus on antimicrobial peptides and proteins (AMPs). This review highlights the central role of the hemocytes in the modulation and control of oyster antimicrobial response. As vehicles for AMPs and other antimicrobial effectors, including reactive oxygen species (ROS), and together with epithelia, hemocytes provide the oyster...

Transcriptional changes in Crassostrea gigas oyster spat following a parental exposure to the herbicide diuron ArchiMer
Rondon, R.; Akcha, Farida; Alonso, P.; Menard, Dominique; Rouxel, Julien; Montagnani, Caroline; Mitta, Guillaume; Cosseau, C.; Grunau, C..
The Pacific oyster Crassostrea gigas is the main oyster species produced in the world, and a key coastal economic resource in France. High mortalities affect Pacific oysters since 2008 in France and Europe. Their origins have been attributed to a combination of biotic and abiotic factors, underlining the importance of environment quality. The impact of water pollution has been pointed out and one of the pollutants, the genotoxic herbicide diuron, occurs at high concentrations all along the French coasts. Previous work has revealed that a parental exposure to diuron had a strong impact on hatching rates and offspring development even if spats were not exposed to diuron themselves. In this study, we explored for the first time the transcriptional changes...

Use of OmpU porins for attachment and invasion of Crassostrea gigas immune cells by the oyster pathogen Vibrio splendidus ArchiMer
Duperthuy, Marylise; Schmitt, Paulina; Garzon, Edwin; Caro, Audrey; Rosa, Rafael D.; Le Roux, Frederique; Lautredou-audouy, Nicole; Got, Patrice; Romestand, Bernard; De Lorgeril, Julien; Kieffer-jaquinod, Sylvie; Bachere, Evelyne; Destoumieux-garzon, Delphine.
OmpU porins are increasingly recognized as key determinants of pathogenic host Vibrio interactions. Although mechanisms remain incompletely understood, various species, including the human pathogen Vibrio cholera, require OmpU for host colonization and virulence. We have shown previously that OmpU is essential for virulence in the oyster pathogen Vibrio splendidus LGP32. Here, we showed that V. splendidus LGP32 invades the oyster immune cells, the hemocytes, through subversion of host-cell actin cytoskeleton. In this process, OmpU serves as an adhesin/invasin required for beta-integrin recognition and host cell invasion. Furthermore, the major protein of oyster plasma, the extracellular superoxide dismutase Cg-EcSOD, is used as an opsonin mediating the...

Оценка точности определений продукции морских моллюсков по одноразовым выборкам IBSS Repository
Стадниченко, С. В..
